The Western New York Library Resources Council is seeking a Systems and Data Librarian who will provide expertise related to maintaining and overseeing WNYLRC’s digital platforms ESIE.space and ESLNair and their underlying technologies, software, and hardware. The Systems and Data Librarian will ensure that the use of web coding and quality standards provides continued accessibility, security, and stability of the council’s web presence and oversight of Microsoft Office 365. Digital Platform Services
In collaboration with staff, manage all aspects of the Empire State Immersive Experiences (ESIE) platform (ESIE.space) and ESLNair including understanding of the CMS architecture and overseeing collection uploads and user accounts. Also required are the promotion and marketing of the service and detailing and overseeing any improvements or new features.
Organizational Operations, WNYLRC.org, and Office Tools
In collaboration with WNYLRC’s IT vendor, act as WNYLRC’s Primary Liaison, oversee maintenance of website, user accounts, content, and structure. Collaborate with staff and members for any needed improvements, security, and automated processes. In collaboration with WNYLRC’s IT vendor, oversee Microsoft Office 365 accounts and services.
Data and Research
Continue to develop local data sources using data collectors and visualization software such as Tableau to reflect current issues in the field. Explore emerging or existing technologies for improving member services.
Communications and Outreach
Effectively use office communication channels with members, colleagues, and co-workers. Collaborate with other regional council staff on projects and services. Attend meetings and conferences as required.
Candidates are required to have a background in computer or data science. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their communication and interpersonal skills during the interview. Required Qualifications:
- MLS degree (or equivalent) from ALA accredited institution
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or relevant experience in computer science or related field
Exceptional technical skills in managing digital platforms
- Working knowledge of Drupal
Demonstrated knowledge of office software (e.g. MSOffice Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Project management experience
Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Ability to work collaboratively
Salary range: $46,000 to $49,000 depending on degree and experience.
